Profile Relationships Across Membership Plans

The Challenge

Mtaalamu is a professional services directory where companies and independent professionals need to appear connected on public profiles. Brilliant Directories includes Multi-Member Manager, which lets one master account manage multiple listings, but every linked listing must stay on the same membership plan and price. Mtaalamu needed connected profiles on different paid tiers so each member could be billed separately. Native sub-accounts could not support that business model.

The Solution

We built a custom Profile Relationships system so Mtaalamu can link independent member accounts across membership plans:

1. Links Across Different Membership Plans

   Unlike Multi-Member Manager sub-accounts, which require every listing to share one plan and price, our solution connects standalone accounts on different tiers. A company on one plan can link to professionals or partners on another, each paying their own subscription while still appearing connected on public profiles.

2. Admin Dashboard for Managing Connections

   Site admins get one place to search members, link profiles together, and review all active connections. Links can be turned on, turned off, or removed without affecting the member accounts themselves.

3. Team and Affiliation Sections on Profiles

   Linked profiles appear as cards on public member pages. Companies show team and partner sections. Individuals show who they work with and which organizations they are affiliated with. Sections only appear when there are active links to display.

4. Member Notifications

   When a new link goes live, both members receive a branded email so they know they are connected and can view their profile on the directory.
