Instant Search Filtering and Cleaner Specialties Display

The Challenge

PetCareNearMe helps pet owners find waste removal services by location and specialty. On the search results page, two things were hurting the experience. First, the Specialties section on each listing showed both parent categories and child options together, so labels like Availability appeared next to specific choices like 1 Dog or 3+ Dogs. Second, every filter click or location search forced a full page reload, which felt slow and disruptive when browsing multiple options.

The Solution

We improved the search experience on PetCareNearMe so visitors can browse faster and see clearer specialty labels on each listing:

1. Cleaner Specialties on Search Results

   We updated the search result cards to show only the most specific specialty options on each listing. Parent-level categories no longer appear in the Specialties row, so visitors see focused labels like 1 Dog or 3+ Dogs instead of mixed category levels.

2. Filter Results Without Reloading

   We replaced full page refreshes with dynamic search updates. When a visitor checks a category filter on the search page, results refresh in place instead of reloading the entire browser page.

3. Location Search That Stays on the Page

   Location searches now work the same way. Users can search by city or area and see updated listings without leaving the search page or losing their current filters.

4. Smoother Browsing Details

   The updated search page keeps result counts, page titles, and load-more behavior in sync with each filter change. A loading state gives clear feedback while new results come in.
